Assure vs. Addie

Some of reading assignments we had were quite interesting. I really enjoyed reading about the Assure vs. Addie model online. The Addie model is designed to analyze, design, develop and evaluate students as a pure numerical base computing the gaps that a student has fallen into. This model is great for finding outcomes of behavior and knowledge of skills. However this model is too linear and does not account for concepts such as social skills and the environment that they live in.

The Assure model helps plan and develop instruction. This model is more appropriate for the learner and the model develops the most appropriate learning style for his/her environment. I do not think either model is great, however a hybrid model between the two would be much more welcomed in the learning process.

The kind of model one chooses really depends on what a teacher's outcome is for every child. Does a teacher simply care about his/her test numbers and the end result. Or does the teacher care about the students needs to excel in their own learning environment? We should remember that we are there for the students. I understand that numbers to an EXTENT are important but remember each student needs to be nurtured. Every teacher should understand that not every student is going to excel at school and that is PERFECTLY FINE.
